F1 » Whiting: No bias in diffuser ban

FIA race director Charlie Whiting insists that the impending ban on extreme engine mapping and blown diffusers has only been taken in the interests of legality, and not to curb the advantage of any one team.

@Engine

Compared to the Red Bull team who are based in Milton Keynes and have a majority British staff.

The vast majority of teams are British.

It's just because if the season is wrapped up in August then all the tracks that appear in August onwards, and have paid $25m to host GPs, may ask Bernie for some of their money back. F1 has always been like this and always will.

Whiting has lost his credibility long time ago. He's just a muppet. The decision should have taken long time ago or at the end of this season, not midway through a season. Whiting's talk about these thing being illegal is politely saying "a crap", clearly there are some other interests there.

It wont make a fat lot of difference, all teams use diiferent engine maps for Q3 than the race and about 10% off throttle hot blown diffuser in the race because of fuel consumption. Changing engine maps for this race has effectively brought the off throttle HBD rule forward by two weeks as that is all in the engine mapping as well so they will only use it at 10% in qualifying now. How many times have you heard or read "there was nothing like watching Ayrton Senna on qualifying tyres and a Honda qualifying engine". That was hardly starting the race in the same car you qualified in was it. I know it's cynical but I cannot help but think this is a Brawn/Domenicali stitch up.

What about the latest wheeze then folks! Some of the top teams have tried a modified exhaust outlet that warms the track surface just in front of the rear tyres. Rumour is its worth 2 seconds a lap in the 1st 10laps, don't forget, you heard it here first!!! Pass it on!

Funny how they looked the other way when Brawn defuser was against the spirit of the rules and allowed (a nice way of saying cheating) giffting Button with all his wins and the championship! ! !

Lame. The FIA are so bad at making rules and how they go about enforcing them. I think they use the same manatees that create Family Guy to make their decisions.
