F1 » 'Mansell-esque' Vettel: I wasn't good in maths....

Sebastian Vettel insists that he doesn't know - or care - how many points he is ahead of his F1 rivals, and isn't thinking about clinching his second world title.

I don't think the 92 season comparison is right. The advantage the Red Bull's have this year is nowhere near the advantage the 92 Williams had, that car was on a different planet to everything else on the grid.

Funny how Vettel is Mansell-esque and some are attempting a Senna-esque Hamilton. If anything, Vettle is Senna-esque or Alonso is Senna-esque. Hamilton is Herbert-esque!

its amazing how virtually every one of the posts about f1 theres a comment where someone is taking a pop at Lewis Hamilton, not everything is about Lewis ffs

as for Vettel being Mansell-esque, going on what i've seen, he's better than Mansell in '92 Mansell had easily the best car it wasnt even close.

Also think back, Button did the same sort of thing with 6 wins in 7 races and if im honest by the end of the season I think Button was lucky to get the Championship another couple of races sitting on the points and it would have been Vettel going for his 3rd in a row this year not 2nd, at least Seb is'nt riding the points to the title

and crushing the competition like Mansell did and he is right now is hardly a new thing in the wrc Loeb won a championship and he was at home with a broken arm for 4 rallies and in the other 12 rallies he entered he got 8 wins and 4 2nd places

Vettel is better than Mansell. The Schumacher comparison is more accurate and in my view Schumi in his prime years was a match for Senna and maybe even more of a solid driver in certain areas. What is clear is that Hamilton is no Senna, he's more compatible to Piquet or Lauda and Alonso is more Fangio. There's also a emerging Prost in Jenson Button.
What's clear is now Vettel is getting to the point to be the clear best of this generation closely followed by Alonso and this Redbull is nowhere near as dominant as the the Williams FW14 Nigel drove in 1992 because that car with the active suspension was 2 seconds faster in race trim which obviously the Redbull isn't and sometimes the RB6 is not even the fastest car in the races itself as China, Barcelona, Monaco and Montreal proved.

The problem this year is that mark webber is doing a totally 3 rd rate job of putting vettel under any pressure. you can understand ferrari and mclerens car being slower but why is webber in a red bull so much slower?
Last year it was much closer between webber and vettel.
Vettel seems to be able to get the most out of these new tyres more then anyone, especially in qualifying where he dominates.

This years championship is turning into a bore fest unless someone starts taking out vettel (thats if they can get near him !) Vettels going to win his second championship

The reason Webber is looking 3rd rate as you put it is'nt down to anything in his control, hes still fighting in the pack with the rest like he was last year. its Vettel thats gone up a level and left the rest to trail in his wake.

the same happened with Mika and DC, MSC and Rubens, Button and Rubens, Alonso and Trulli, Hamilton and Hekki, Loeb and Sordo, Gronholm, Rossi, Lorenzo, Stoner etc etc etc

The opposition arent the deciding factor its the champions that change that makes them look ordinary
