F1 » Villeneuve: F1 2011 'useless, boring...not even racing'

Former world champion Jacques Villeneuve says the artificiality of the DRS-enabled action in F1 2011 only serves to 'upset' him and send him to sleep - arguing that now there is 'no excitement, nothing'

I think he's right about Hamilton. Who wants to see drivers too scared to attempt something stupid? Hamilton divides opinion but at least he gives us something to talk about.

Imagine a grid full of drivers like him? It would be carnage....and great viewing.

JV is right on everything that he has said here. Sure to some it may seem that we are having a great season , but it is very artificial. They need to find a better solution to the overtaking that will allow the cars to race closer together ... and yes those stewards need to go. These guys are paid huge amounts of money to race , so please let them race !!!

It may be boring but its not as boring as no overtaking, and with every collision now penalised by the stewards, theres no encouragement to even try to overtake, Just settle for your grid possition...

@ ferret.
your right there 25 years ago the sport was more fun to watch.
something has to be done to improve it or it will be just a zzzzzzzz fest.

So he admits that he doesn't watch F1 anymore but he can pass judgement on how boring it is? If he doesn't watch it how does he know what its like?

Villeneuve whining about F1 is nothing new, the last few years that he spent in F1 he was past it and moaned about everything to make up for his own uselessness.

You can call him a sad old man if you like. But there was nothing sad or old about his driving when he was at his peak. One of the few to go aggresively wheel to wheel with Schumacher. He knows what he is talking about. DRS, jeez. What has F1 come to when it has to introduce gimmicks that lead to overtaking on the sraights rather than in corners? Fortunately we have seen some excitement this year because of conditions and a crop of great drivers, but that merely papers over some fundamental problems.
