F1 » Alonso: To be a tenth off first is a 'great sign'

Fernando Alonso: I think that was the best qualifying of the year in performance terms. It's true that the actual result was better in Canada – second – but I was further off pole position than I am today.

Ferrari have averaged .75 - 1 sec behind RBR in qually this season, but have had good race pace..witness Canada & Eur GP (Valencia where Alonso pushed Vettel hard and finished a close 2nd). They have been the main challengers to RBR lately - in fact only Vettel in the RBR beating Alonso...
Ferrari (Alonso) now .1 sec behind in Qually...even Massa ahead of JB & LH ....and easy on tyres (Siverstone is hard on tyres).... should be a good race for them.

Remember that Ferrari have hardly needed to run the hard tyre this weekend, if at all.
If the race is dry, that could still be their problem.
The last time they needed to run that tyre, they were competitive too - until they pitted, & by race end they were a lap down.
