F1 » Kovalainen 'very likely' to stay at Team Lotus in 2012

Although stressing that it is still somewhat premature to be discussing drivers for next year, Tony Fernandes admits it is 'very likely' that Heikki Kovalainen will remain at Team Lotus into F1 2012

That's rubbish.

I'd say Kovi's stock has gone up this year, he's totally out-classing Truli and seems to be leading the team very well. He remains positive and doesn't rubbish the team when things go wrong, a few drivers in the paddock should take note. They'll want to hang on to him, Truli is another story....do they really need him ? Could bring in Karun and save on the wages.

Unfortunately for Kovalainen taking a step down from McClaren was not the best of moves even if he had little choice. The possibility of scoring points if Lotus can improve is not going to get a top drive for him at his age, I guess he will join a long list of drivers who had the talent but never really made it. As for Truli words fail me he should have retired about ten years ago and concentrated on his wine business
( I hope that this is better than his driving!)

Kovalainen is only a middling driver not a top driver as he describes himself, is he helping this team No they promised points in 2011 by Barcelona and stated they would overtake Sauber Force India and Williams by Barcelona they haven't scored 1 point in 2 years and spent more money than the other new teams put together. They have failed in everything they set out to achieve.
As for Chandhok he is at best a journeyman his record is abysmal for a driver supposed to be in F1.

The GP2 race at Silverstone this week proves the sport must get rid of all the underperformers and older drivers and make way for the likes of Bianchi, Vietoris Grosjean and Sam Bird incidentally Chandhok would probably be nowhere in GP2 this season

"Truli is another story....do they really need him ?"

According to Gascoyne, he's the one in charge of developing the car and Heikki just drives.

Trulli's been complaining about the lack of feedback from the powersteering, strangely compatriot Patrese was also said to suffer from a lack of feedback in the active suspension Williams compared to Mansell who just "grabbed the steering wheel with his knuckles."

Anyway, this year or the next Trulli is about to leave, it's about normal, I just hope he can get some good races and enjoy himself instead of living that frustrated.
