F1 cars will be required to run on electric power only in the pit-lane from next season, if the FIA manages to push its latest rule change past the teams.

If they roof the circuit with wire mesh and put little poles up at the back of the cars you could electrify the whole circuit and do away with petrol altogether. a side benefit of this is kids could come and play on it for the rest of the year, remember the louder you scream the faster you go. F1 clowns destroying the pinnacle of motorsport and turning it into a fairground ride.

What a ludicrous idea! The environmental impact of not using petrol in the pit lane is non-existent compared to the thousands of tyres, the uneconomical engines, the demands to make tracks "up to F1 standard", etc. Then the hypocricy of night time races, with how much wasted power to run how many lights? Yeah, run electric in the pitlane, you'll really make an impact. On the viewing public

The driver will be the man starting the engine (not the mechanic with the portable starter) and switching off the engine.
When the car outs the pit lane the driver will have to fire up (starts) the engine.
When the driver is entering the pit lane apart from the speed limiter he will switch off the engine.
In short the engines will have to be fitted with a starter motor and a battery with a capacity to suit.
In a race apart from when the car is leaving the pits to go to the starting grid and then again before the race starts the engine will be switched off and started every time the car pits on entry and exit.
They also upped the max RPM from 12k to 15k.
Although the engines will be a V6 a single (one) turbocharger will be used.

Hey I have a better idea to go green: install push pedals inside the cockpit and cut off engine power completely in the pitlane so drivers have to rely on pedalling their cars in and out! Very green and now they can use both hands and legs during the race! :-)
