F1 » Ecclestone: BBC/Sky Sports deal not just about money

Bernie Ecclestone: The situation was simple. It was not just about money, it was about doing what is best for F1. The BBC did a great job but together with Sky we will get even better coverage. Look at what Sky do with other sports, they have very good ideas. It will grow the audience, I am sure of it.

ITV coverage of an RAC rally stage - 4 people = 30 min of TV.

BBC coverage of the SAME stage - 13 people = 4 mins of TV.

Rallycross (invented by BBC!) Dumped.

Motocross Dumped.

F1 Dumped TWICE!

All the sport that BBC shows seems to be the ones where IT controles the TV output and sells the feed to others, unlike motorsport where the 'incrowd' grab the 'TV rights' !

SKY showed F1 before , very very poor coverage and view figures, they dumped it before the season ended ! What next??

The F1 fans need to let sponsors and teams know what they feel and think, and fast.

BBC licence fee is now no longer justified in any way and should go. Otherwise we still now must pay TWICE to see the same thing. Sorry BE not a billionare like you !

Cant/wont do it for the 'Elliot Carver Media Empire'(look up Bond films !!!)

'I think in the end people will be happier with this new deal than they are at the moment@ What planet is Mr. Ecclestone from? I know of no one who is unhappy with BBC coverage apart from my wife! The new, improved Ecclestone coverage gives pay per view 100% and BBC, free to air 50% and as a result, far fewer people will now watch live GP's, now how on Gods earth does that make for a happier public?. Bernie has finally shot his bolt and is now clearly insane, off to the funny farm Bernie!!
