F1 » Vettel: We need to come back strong at Spa

Sebastian Vettel: I was struggling a little in the first stint on the intermediate tyres. Lewis [Hamilton] was a bit faster and then I went into Turn 2 too deep...

RBR needs to get some development going on again, since it seems Mclaren have already gone ahead on both areas, Q and race. It seems the upgrades to counter the blow bans didn't work (at least for Vettel) so for him to go back to the old settings means they have plateaued where as Mc have done anything but. In this race the front end they had was scary good, it has always been great but it seemed the was even more of a leap further from others.

Even so, this race did all but secure Vettel's 2nd title. The difference between 77 points and Ham/Alo (Mc/Fer) gathering momentum with Vettel seemingly floundering with 9 to go compared to 85 points and Vettel back on form putting Ham/Alo in their place with 8 to go is massive.

Vettel was once again shown up in his poor racecraft in traffic, he is very lucky that Redbull have a fast car.
Hamilton early in the race made him look very average as he pressured him into a mistake.

As for coming back strong....what a joke, he could probably take a holiday for the rest of the season and still win with points to spare as those lower down the pole take points off each other.

One things for sure though, is that if the other teams provide equal machinery to Redbull then Vettel will not be a World Champion again.

There are any number of the top drivers who are better where it counts and that is racing.

Vettels greatest strength at the moment is that there isnt one driver who can challenge him, but three (LH, JB and FA). As long as they keep chopping and changing then he can afford a string of mid-place points finishes.

OMFG people...

Seb is 85 points clear, period.

RBR has not won the last 3 races, period.

Ferrari and McLaren have closed the car gap, period.

Seb finishing the season 7th or better wins him championship #2, period.

Everything else is just crying because you like someone else, period.

Only bigots deny facts in the face of overwhelming evidence.

The anti Vettel stuff is pretty comical at times.

He will be WDC this year, he drove a good race, give the guy some credit.

Don't know why people don't like him or rate him.

Don't know why people don't like him or rate him.

Because of his personality, the move he made on Webber is a great example, he just wanted to scare him off the best racing line. Didn't work - do you remember his reaction? Dirty racing and brat behavior do not create respect.

Did anyone else notice at the beginning of the race when Hamilton was trying to pass him, that Vettel actually tried running him off the track a few times? Couldn't hold him back so he resorted to that.

I dont like Lulu or Pettal, but the truth is Hammi is the fastest man out there (and has proven he can win in a slower car) even though he is prone to misatkes, stuff ups and a massive ego with the brat attitude. Vettel cant win without the best car and has an ego and brat attitude to almost match Hammi, as well as having no race craft what so ever. If not for Newey Seb would not be WDC and his way to a 2nd one. Im a Webber fan but atleast I can admit he is not the best driver out there ! He still probably has the most overtakes this season !

At you Vettel haters. 1st win, 1st pole for Toro Roso. Vettel. The only pole and win for that team. The first win for Red Bull? Vettel. Couthard and Webber could not do it. 1st drivers championship for Red Bull? Vettel again. He does not need to prove he can overtake. He did enough of it early in his carrier. Anybody remember the drive thru penalty for more than 10 places to the pace car? Broken spark plug, lug nut that was not put on properly? The young man has paid his dues. He holds records for the youngest point scorer, youngest pole setter and youngest winner ever.
Give him his recognition and stop being so hard on him. He does not need to overtake. The objective is to win the world Championship and he is one his way. How any drivers do we remember that won more races and still did not win the championship at the end of the season?
The kid is good. End of story.
