When Vettel was at STR they were using Red Bull's old chassis. imagine if STR had red bull's car from last year. They would be a far more attractive team to watch, and buemi and alguersuari would have better chances to prove themselves. it would be easier to gauge how good they were.

I think they should get a red bull test against vettel, webber, and ricciardo before deciding to shove ricciardo in the seat before them.

they should get graham rahal in one of their cars when the US grand prix starts back up. their marketing effectiveness would soar through the roof.

its their biggest market as well, so it just makes sense.

i just want to see an american back in F1. and i think graham rahal is the stronguest american candidate.

boss b. you have just brought up an idea that could add local interest into a gp. namely that a mid field runner should be asked to provide a car for a "wild card" entry, thus giving the likes of rahal a chance to run in a gp. but any driver would need to be allowed to run an extra days testing to familiarise themselves with an f1 car. could be interesting!

boss b,

Drivers who haven't had any experience in the junior formulae in Europe have generally shown unable to cut it in F1. Of course if Graham Rahal would dominate IRL it might give some teams a reason to look at him but he doesn't, despite having decent machinery.

I thought Scott Speed wasn't half bad (actually quite good, 3rd in GP2, on par with Liuzzi at STR and IMO, showing more potential) but somehow he and/or Red Bull or both squandered that oppertunity.

Now I guess you'd have to look at Alexander Rossi, but really to get in F1 these days you need championships or at least a brace of wins in Euro F3/GP3, WSBR or preferably, GP2.

The last race of the year at Vegas for Indy Racing allows for anyone on the planet to race against the regulars. If that wild card wins he gets a million dollars.

graham rahal has done the most with all the machinery he has had in indycar.

and he's the strongest american open wheel driver to me. With solid testing i believe he will do decent in F1. Scott Speed was pretty good, but i think he was just too brash and arrogant.

but red bull has a nascar team. they had started the team just to keep scott speed on their roster. so now they don't worry too much about getting an American in F1 anymore.

if red bull can do all this spending, sponsoring 2 teams and even a driver in a 3rd team, richard branson can do all this and even more with his virgin team.

tony fernandes has a 3rd of branson's financial clout and is spanking him. richard branson is just not that focused in f1, it's simply a token past time for him
