F1 » Senna: I wasn't expecting that!

Bruno Senna: I was a little nervous going out in Q3 using dry tyres on a damp track, because I hadn't managed much running on them this morning or yesterday. Bearing this in mind, I feel absolutely delighted with P7.

Outstanding and unexpected. Spa is the mother of all tracks and to achieve P7 in the first outing with the car at this track is simply extraordinary. Ahead of Petrov and Alonso! Way to go, kid. Keep it up.

It just shows how slow and poor Heidfeld and Petrov are when you see Senna can do this on what is basically his first competitive drive in the car, this Senna was battling with Chandock and a very poor Yamamoto and was sometimes slower than them, Renault must be kicking themselves for not having a top driver at the beginning of the season where I believe that was a race winning car but underpar drivers, hate to say it but a driver like Vettel, Alonso and Hamilton would of won a race in this car.

@Equin0x ,

The HRT was a joke, and not a yardstick by any means. Driving that piece of junk did Bruno's career more harm than good. Remember the time when he actually had to race with floor damage, and the team did not repair it for 2 god damn races. Today was the first competitive chance he got in a real F1 car and he delivered. As daz said, fingers crossed for a points finish tomorrow.

I wasn't expecting it too, real surprising result which made me happy. I don't think he ever qualified better the 20th (with HRT), tomorrow he can get his first points too.

But before saying that how bad Petrov and Heidfeld is, and this car could win races, don't forget that (for some unknown reasons) rookies often have real good results at their very first race. In 2009 Grosjean out-qualified Alonso at his first race, but was very far after that. Just because he had a great result now, not sure he will be always better than Petrov.

Can we give Alguersuari some credit on his sixth place too? Nearly had fifth as well, Rosberg just managed to pip him on prime track conditions. Surely another nail in Buemi's coffin at STR?

JA and DR for STR 2012.
