F1 » Alonso: No 'real chance' of winning

Fernando Alonso: At the moment, we must congratulate our opponents, who are doing a fantastic job, but we will not give up, at least until the mathematics tell us otherwise.

if they pitted under SC they would of been on level playing field with tyres to attack seb when his would go off. but instead fernando had to start 2nd phase of race with very old tyres while seb had fresh ones and seb was gone.

and then fernando had to pit earlier than he would of to go onto the slow hards(very slow on ferrari).

bizzare and very short sighted strategy by ferrari. not pitting under SC deleted the big advantage they had with better tyre wear. They just let seb hold all the cars.

no wonder seb is walking away with the title. his competition are very stupid at times this year

Alonso's performance was fantastic on the soft tyre, shame the Ferrari doesn't work on the harder rubber in cool conditions.
Webber's pass on Alonso going into Eau Rouge was one of the best over takes of the season, and nice of Mark to say after the race that he could try a move like that because he trusts Alonso as a driver. If FA had done something silly there to block Webber the accident would have been horrific.

alonso said saturday for la sexta (a spanish tv) that he feels like a top 5 position at the end of the race is ok considering how the car was working, so he was right. i guess he was a much better judge of the competition than we were and he's team was

As long as he drives for Ferrari he will never be world champion again! There may be money enough but the tecnicians are second class and management bad.

@me of course he would of thought that starting 8th, but after about 10 laps he was leading and was the quickest thing out there. until the SC, not pitting under the SC meant he went the rest of the race on a slower tyre than vettel. firstly 15laps or so on an older option, the having to pit early onto the primes(which ferrari cant get to work) so how on earth was he going to compete like that?

To those who disagreed with my strategy comment. please explain how not pitting under SC was better?

Bad timing for safetycar for Alonso, and perfect timing for vettel.Alonso would not have gain anything by changing his not so old tire but for vettel who was struggling on his already old second tire set the safetycar was perfect.

Yes he would of brad. simply cos he would of been on a level playing field with the tyres. when under pressure vettel was blistering them in 5laps. Under no pressure they lasted better. and also it would likely of meant vettel would of had to do 4 stops, to counter alonso on his fresh ones. and in doing so fernando would of only had to do 5laps or so on primes(which he is very slow on) instead of 12.

the difference would of been huge! from the SC alonso was ALWAYS on a slower tyre than vettel. so with that there was no way he could win.

Ferrari strategy is very, very short sighted. They for some reason cant see what effect strategy will have later on in the race. As soon as FA didnt pit under SC i said to my bro he wouldnt finish on podium, if i can see it how can they not?

same thing happened at last race in 2010. was madness to pit him when he did, he was as quick as jenson, all he had to do was follow him to world champion. I was shouting at the TV what about petrov & Rosberg!

Alonso is never to going to win anything for Ferrari. Don't know what kind of input he provides to his engineers as car was no way near the performance that he was predicting in the last few races. Sad that the loser will be defiling the Reds' name for 5 years.
