F1 » Button laments 'what could have been'

Jenson Button was left wondering whether he could have won the Belgian Grand Prix had it not been for problems in qualifying and on lap one at Spa.

Button has impressed this year, if his Saturdays were better he would be higher up the leader board.

The best driver pairing in F1, Hamilton brings raw speed but Button brings a lot to the table, reminds me of Alain Prost in many ways, Alain Prost with a personality.

A content individual who always appears happy and smiling.

Fantastic result, and like the above subscriber, thinks long term like Alan Prost.

Keep the pressure on, next year might get better !!!!!

I hate thinking in what ifs.. but...
IF Button had not suffered those two DNF's that were completely beyond his control, he would be a minimum of 30 points higher. Also, had Hamilton's stupid actions at Monaco not brought the safety car out, then Button would have likely won there too. All in all, he should really be lying far higher in 2nd place in the championship. Maclaren need to get their act together.

Button entered the lions den, Boy is he putting up a fight and in my opinion winning.
Yes, I still concede Hamilton is a born racer. BUT Button is going from strength to strength AND holding it all together. Hamilton is feeling the pressure, hence the mistakes.
McLaren themselves have cost Button dearly, and are still favouring Hamilton.
Whitmarsh HAMILTON DIDN'T GET HIT FROM BEHIND. he turned across the guy. Say what you see not what you want to see.

Jenson Button is a true professional and a very clever racer, he's out scored Sham, out thought Sham, made less mistakes than Sham and also most interestingly done more overtakes than Sham and with them overtakes he hasn't got into anywhere near as many collisions as Sham.
Surely Mclaren will always favour Sham but the fact states that Button is beating Lewser Shamilton on merit even with more technical failures speaks volume of his abilities, face it Jenson has proved over the last 2 seasons he's a better all rounder than Sham who's would have thought that when he signed for Mclaren!

McLaren do not favour Hamilton. McLaren just make stupid mistakes, they have done as many no brainers for Hamilton as they have for Button. But Jens is playing it cool as he always has. He will not have a go at his crew as he knows they are still on the learnming curve with each other. He is a quality racer and will inevitably challenge for the WDC again, given the right car. It takes a while to gel the whole package and he is quietly getting on with the job, as his driving, results and attitude show. It's not about Jens vs Lewis. Its about Jens doing his own thing in his own way.

Ah! HOW REFRESHING!!!

A Button thread that's NOT packed to the rafters with Button Bashers!!!
Button has stepped up this season. And now that him and his crew have felt each other out they seem to be getting more consistent. Bar the SIlly Silly errors things have been promising.

This season is pretty much over, but who knows, next season?
GO JENSON!!!
