F1 » McLaren should 'forget' F1 2011 title, says de la Rosa

McLaren-Mercedes test-driver Pedro de la Rosa has countered Martin Whitmarsh's enduring optimism about F1 2011 - telling the team to 'forget' the title now and focus instead on coming out fighting in 2012

Pedro couldn't even keep a seat at Sauber, so this is pretty rich coming from him. Vettel had this year's title in the bag 5 races ago. The guy is unstoppable. Until the other top teams step up to the plate and take the fight to Red Bull, I Can see him winning the title for next 3 years at least. This is Schumacher-Ferrari stuff all over again.

He's just stating the obvious I guess but it won't put him in Twitmarsh's good graces.

I guess from a sponsor point of view it's not good to say we can't win the title anymore.

blame him all you want guys, but if you look at the results so far one must acknowledge that he is right, and deep down all of you know that, this year championship is over drivers and constructors alike Vettel+Red Bull have one, and i say this with the deepest regret i've hoped for something similar with last year but this is it, one can only hope for better in 2012

maclaren should have forget about the title before even the season in the middle...the car is problematic and slow!..and LH drving cause more damage and wasting team efforts and time...what are they thinking now?..more spectacular crashes from LH and spice up f1 show?...they should be doing this instead of winning races..did you guys notice when Jb & Lh races ..Lh NEVER CUTS INTO HIM or crashes....but other drivers...LH should be fined for reckless driving and ban 2 races!..

those crashes he encounter?..in my opionion,,he derserve it!

He is only stating what everybody knows. Vettel has had the championship sown
up for some time now. Jusy how likely is it that Button or Hamilton win's the last seven races and Vettel does'nt score a point. I'm not a betting man but if I was I
would not be putting any money on Button or Hamilton however good the odds. Let's all hope that there is some great racing and a mix of winners in the remaining seven races.
