F1 » Newey: Vettel wants to 'earn' F1 title, not 'cruise' to it

As he remains confident but coy on his chances of wrapping up the F1 2011 laurels in Singapore this weekend, Adrian Newey has revealed that Sebastian Vettel wants to clinch the crown in style

Taipan, not Timo's greatest moment infront of a room full of journalists was it.
Agree also, another year where McLaren have produced a good car, but the personnel have failed to get the best out of it. One drivers title in ten years should be painfull for them.

He has already earned it. 1st and 2nd in every race but one. Those who moan about Vettel having the best car need to look at all the F1 championships since 1950. None were won in a car that was not the best or within a few tenths of the best. The margin to Webber is so large that no sane or informed fan disputes that Vettel has also beaten Webber fair and square, even if you knock a few points from him for team orders/Webber's poor pit stops.

blzbub. it all depends. timo might have said it in a jocular fashion. just like ty might say that he would bet on lulu winning the wdc in 2011! i doubt if timo made a valid financial bet of an sort. of course, timo would know that it would be pointless to bet on himself.
i see that button has also said that the "rumours" of him being considered by ferrari, are all hogwash, just as i predicted. but there seems to be more credence to the kimi/williams stories. willaims are declining to comment, rather than deny it.

Richard, I also thought that it might be a figure of speech, but if you have a look at f1 fanatic (not my favorite place) Keith Collantine (the chappy who runs the site) recieved an email from Virgin confirming that Glock had actually placed a bet on this weekends outcome.
Why Virgin would want to confirm such a thing is beyond me.

"It would certainly explain the 2008 title decider wouldn't it. I wonder how much the slowest lap of his life earned him?"

Ty, please tell me how a slick tyre that has already done 35 laps would perform in the rain? because Timo Glock was on slick tyres and not wet or intermediate tyres when both Vettel and Lewis passed him going up the hill at the last corner....F1 title was fully earned and one of the finest F1 seasons in the last 10 years...

Ola.. it makes Taipu feel good to bash Lewis at every turn. He doesn't actually believe anything that comes out of his own mouth. Or does he believe that ALonso had a bet on Velvet last year. As the title was gifted.

ty. destabilising maybe? but i would never condone betting, but i dont think that there is any law about a person (particularly in a tail-end team) placing a bet at the start of a season. i would reckon that even bernie has a flutter on the result. used his pocket money, so probably about 1m. but the odds against seb winning, must have been miniscule.
