F1 » Vettel one point shy after Singapore success

Sebastian Vettel needs to score just one point in Japan to put the destiny of the F1 2011 drivers' crown beyond doubt following victory in Singapore - although Jenson Button made him work for it...

The RB7 may be the best in the field, but the pilot still needs to operate it to the finish line.

The car is just the tool the driver uses to win, and so far in 2011, Vettel is the best operator, and the numbers reflect that.

Look, I'm a JB fan, so this comment is pretty neutral.

But it just blows me away how everyone says that Mark Webber is a second rate driver! Sure, Vettel is kicking his ass this season, but then again, he's kicking everyone's ass. Let's not forget that last season webber led the drivers championship for longer than anyone else. Sure, he wasn't leading it at the end, but a second rate driver - please, give me a break. He so easily could have won the title - ah well.

Then we have the same people sit here and constantly (blindly) tell everyone that Lewis Hamilton is the best thing ever and the best driver ever, when quite clearly, he isn't. Lewis is trailing his team mate just like mark is. However, mark is only 2 places down on his team mate, Lewis is trailing his team mate by 3 places.

Webber is quite clearly having a bad season, so is Lewis. So why the hell is Lewis Hamilton still the best thing ever and webber just second rate?

I'm not saying that webber is better than ha

I'm not saying that webber is better than hamilton, but get a grip people. Webber is coming 3rd in the Formula One World Drivers Championship - Hardly second

With the car Webber has he should be in second place and a lot closer to Vettel who is in the same car as this under performing Aussie. Im sure someone like Chandok would give Vettel a better challenge than Webber.

FASTEST CAR KNOW WIN FOR OVER A YEAR.

@ richard still 5 races to go before Lewis is demoted to ron's silverboy, but got to give credit to Button he has got to be the most improved driver in f1 about now and is taking full advantage of of Lewis's erratic performances of late.

According to German publication Bild, Vettel will receive a 5 million pound bonus for wrapping up the drivers title, it is also believed that should he make it a hat-trick next years bonus will rise to 7 million. Also bonuses of 435000 per win and 220000 for a podium are received on top of a basic 16M. I would wave my finger too!
