F1 » Button third despite KERS woes

Jenson Button: I'd arrive at a corner and not know whether I had any engine braking because I had no warning. So selecting the right spot at which to brake was tough...

Great job today Jenson.... you couldn't have done any better than third today because of the KERS problem. They say KERS gives McLaren about 5 tenths a lap and for Jenson to lap fast and consistent within 5 tenths of Lewis without KERS just proves how great he's been this season.

No matter what people here just don't like Hamilton period. They find anything to discredit anything positive. Like it or not even though Button will finish higher in the standings Hamilton is still a better driver and that comes from Alonso.

I think the way that Button is doing his job at the moment is great, he acts in a sporting manner, he is driving superbly, he rarely fails to smile even in adversity, does not seem to bear grudges, and overall just seems like an all round good guy and top driver!

I say good drive from both the Maclaren guys.

Nice to see Hami back on his game. It's a pity Jens had the issues he did or I rate we would've seen some gr8 racing between the two for the win.
Commendable drive by Fernando also, nice to see him out of his Average driving slump.

The great thing about Button is that he gets the job done even with problems, no moaning, no compaint, he just sorts out what he has to do to get to the line and does it, there are not too many drivers out there that can do that. He just needs to find that extra edge of speed and he will be a real handful in a fully competitive car.

I don't agree JB would have been fighting for the win - he didn't have the balance all weekend and could only have beaten Alonso - who, by the way, didn't say Hamilton was better than Button. He merely courteously praised Hamilton.

Good on you JB.
Guaranteed to be McLarens #1 next year, and first team mate to ever beat Hamilton in F1. I must admit I did not think you would do this when you left Brawn. Suitably impressed.

Good luck for the next one, and hope you keep FA behind.

@Calvin, I'm not so sure. Jense was indeed dropped by Alonso but was pegging the gap around lap 8-9 (from what I saw of the timing) then the KERS failed and it was sayonara to the scarlet marauder of Alonso. With Button's tyre saving abilities he definitely could have challenged but it's the same as saying Vettel would have gone into the distance. No one here truly knows.
