McLaren are playing down the talk, because they don't want any concerns arising about their relationship with Mercedes in the coming seasons.

But to not be looking at all the options would be foolish.

Of course it's BS. Honda is not going to put in the money and resources at this time to start developing a new engine, while Mercedes supplies 4 teams so they can recover some of their costs.

Honda will probably return to F1 one day to wash away the bitter taste that was left last time around, they've got racing in their blood (unlike Toyoda), but it will be in economically better times.

This 'rumor' is just some nostalgia from an old journalist on a slow news day.

As an F1 follower if there is something that I do like to see happen in F1 it's Honda's return but as I have tried to explain yesterday the financial and marked situation at present for Honda is not conductive to an F1 return.

Agree Sunny and I can see Ford bowing out of WEC for the same reason. I can also see hard times ahead for F1 (teams dropping out again even Merc) unless it starts cost cutting immediately

sunny. dont forget, merc just got a big pay out from mclaren, and mclaren now also have to pay for their engines.
and whilst i believe that honda may be on their way back, i see that they have also been suffering from a big downturn in sales and are running at a loss, so maybe this is all speculation, or maybe they feel that trying to ressurect a racing heritage could help them improve. who knows?

Richard, I too believe that Honda will be back sometime but can't see it happening at present, having sales/profits slump by 30 percent in the last 9 months is no joke not to mention the situation the country just went through.
