F1 » Unfulfilled promise for Senna

In a race which held much promise, Bruno Senna failed to convert his outstanding qualifying performance into the result it deserved during the Brazilian GP.

Senna's Season:

Belgium: Qualified 7th and finished 13th
Italy: Qualified 10th and finished 9th
Singapore: Qualified 15th and finished 15th
Japan: Qualified 9th and finished 16th
Korea: Qualified 15th and finished 13th
India: Qualified 14th and finished 12th
Abu Dhabi: Qualified 14th and finished 16th
Brazil: Qualified 9th and finished 17th

He has been inconsistant but he did outqualify Petrov 5:3 and considering the fact that he was dumped halfway through the season last year when driving for HRT he did extemely well to replace Heidfield with 8 races to go in the season.

Bruno has shown potential (albeit in qualifying) and deserves a full season with testing etc with a team whether it be with Renault or even Williams.

Just saying!

At the very least you could make a strong case that he has equaled Petrov this year. The only consideration will be Corporate. Does LRGP want to open markets in Russia or Brazil. They both bring cash for the seat, Senna MAY win out (temporarily anyway until RK return) on name recognition alone, but either guy could do a reasonably credible job in a reasonably credible car.

Senna has been useless. The stats in the first post prove that. He goes backwards in races, often ruining somebody elses races along the way. Petrov always beats him in races (you don't get points for quali, and races are longer than one lap). And he's not a rookie anymore, he did a full season with HRT, so the rookie excuse doesn't wash either. Ricciardo has proved that it is possible to step into a car half way through the year and beat an established team mate. Brazilian Stock cars are waiting Bruno.

Senna did have a full season with HRT a team that had no pre season training and drove the car for the first time at the first race.

Driving that **** of a car last year did not do his racing learning any good.

The fact that he finished 2nd in his first season in GP2 shows that he can drive in races he just needs time.

His team mates had the same car. He's never beaten any of his team mates convincingly, and I think we can agree that Chadhok, Yamamamamoto, klein and petrov don't represent the highest quality of team mates. Even Yamamamamoto out qualified him once I seem to recall. He hasn't shown any real promise during his time in F1. Time for somebody else to have a shot.

To jump in the car after half way and out-qualify petrov shows he's got the stuff. His race pace needs to improve, and i think it will if he gets a seat for a full season and can atend the pre season testing. But given that Raikkonen has signed, Bruno now should go to Williams. It's his only sane option.

My point exactly. Qualification is not a problem he just needs proper race time.

I also believe that if he has race time his quali will get even better. He qualified 7th in his first quali for Renault. A useless driver would not be able to do that!
