F1 » DC and Lee on the BBC, but dissent continues

Even as he confirms further elements of next year's BBC F1 coverage, the broadcaster's Ben Gallop attracts further complaints from race fans.

"The first thing to stress is that we will be at every race, bringing the season to life for BBC TV viewers."

For many potential BBC TV viewers, F1 is now dead. I wish the BBC powers that be would get out of their own crevice and step into the real world. With every announcement, the deal with Sky seams worse and i cannot express my disgust with the BBC strongly enough. They have let us down badly.

Yea i was wondering where the "dissent" was as well. I'm glad David Coulthard is staying and I hope Eddie and Ted stay as well. I really enjoy the team and they are great too watch. They are the best team on T.V. and always provide us with laughs and they seem to be one of the most respected T.V. programmes with the drivers and teams.

BBC should mbe ashamed. they should have sought assistance from other free to air channels before going to Sky. I have watched every race since 198 and now i find myself with a decision to make. Do i go with sky and end up spending more money? or do i watch the bbc's less than pathetic version. As a licence payer i feel cheated out of another sporting event. BBC should consider scrapping the licence fee and becoming a commercial channel if it cant afford to provide anything to watch. F1 was the only programme i watched on the BBC.

The BBC still hasn't been explained why the BBC cut F1, then spent extra money on other sports which the BBC Trust's own report said were more expensive and had fewer viewers.

F1 Cost per Viewer Hour = Hit
F1 Cost per Viewer = Hit
F1 Actual Reach 54% = Hit
F1 Actual Live Rating = Hit

Other sports in the report:

Euro 2008 Cost per Viewer Hour = Miss
Euro 2008 Actual Reach 35.2% = N/A
Olympics 2008 Cost per Viewer Hour = Miss
Olympics 2008 Actual Reach 42% = Miss
Olympics 2008 live Rating = Miss
Open Golf 2009 Cost per Viewer Hour = Miss
Open Golf 2009 live Rating = Miss
Snooker 2009 Cost per Viewer Hour = Miss
Snooker 2009 live Rating = Miss

And also why F1 was deliberately excluded from the DQF public consultation.
