F1 » Glock: I'm as good as Vettel

Timo Glock believes that he would give double world champion Sebastian Vettel a run for his money in similar equipment.

Well maybe he is and maybe he isn't, but good for him to maintain such unwavering self-confidence despite running in decidely inferior machinery of late.

It wouldn't be the least interesting season if he dragged himself up the grid order on the strength of his convictions next year. Come on lad, let's see you do it!

Its an extremely controversial issue and I cant say I agree. The Ferrari and McLaren are superior cars but their drivers just couldnt get the most from them. As for Webber (Vettel's teammate) he is a mile off the pace. Having said this, they had bloody damn well make sure all cars have an equal opportunity. Lets say if Vettel was in Glock's car, would he have won the F1WC?????????

That's the funniest thing I've heard all week!
I know all drivers must think they're the best but to say it out loud with no proof of results just amazes me, there's a reason Timo's in a bad car because this guy is probably worse than average in F1 and couldn't shine when Toyota had a good car, put him in a Redbull and Vettel would have to get a rev limiter of 16k rpm as a handicap and would probably still beat Timo, dream on mate.

Of course he wouldn't have won the title if he had been riding that mess of a car that the Virgin was... But that's hardly the point. Glock had middle-upper middle equipment at Toyota, and what did he do? Vettel had a Toro Rosso and won at Monza. And guess what, he finished ahead of Glock that season too (35 pts in 8th vs. 25 pts in 10th). Glock talks a big game, and I am not saying that his performances this year amount to all he's worth (the Virgin was a dog), but still... As good as Vettel? No way. Just no way.

And if it were so easy to be champion a competitive car, how come Kovalainen didn't finish even remotely close to Hamilton in 2008?

For someone who has never finished ahead of his teammate in the championship, over the four years he has been in F1, he sure does think highly of himself. His drive on slick tyres at Interlagos 2008 wasn't exactly Senna-esque either.

The 2008 and 2009 Toyota was a good car but he only mustered some good performances out of them. Meanwhile, Vettel won in a Toro Rosso and passed Hamilton at the Brazilian grand prix in 2008. He earned his Red Bull seat from which I recall, he beat in his B team Toro Rosso before joining the A Red Bull team. They worked hard to make the Red Bull as unstoppable as it has become.
