@Ron's golden boy
Please don't underestimate Seb by crediting car & Newey. I know u have respected Seb in some of ur posts on this thread.
BTW i am not discrediting Lulu as i like him and his rawpace. Ferrari's no.1 doesn't have the pace of Seb & lewis.
Please don't bring him here though.

@ Matt
Seb won in rain in Monza in a car which was not even the 3rd fastes.

Ferdi scored 0 points in Canada. Seb is definitely better in rain than lulu, Ferdi, even button(recall China 2009. So Seb will do better than Ferdi in any car in rain.
How can u say he won't do as good in ferrari or ferdi will do same in rbr. In dry not sure, in rain Seb is definitely better. Further, RB doesn't do well in traffic. Seb is the Best qualifier on the grid & hence in position to get the Best results from RB.

Angelina, 2011 has not been about speed as Lewis has found out, its been about getting the best setup and the RB7 designers has got the ballance right between top end speed and down force and that is why the RB7 is capable of getting around most f1 tracks quicker than the rest it is slower than the Mclaren and the Mercs in straight line speed but F1 tracks have more bends and chicanes than straights and at most circuits the Red Bull team seems to get it right.

Although i am a Lewis fan Alonso has realized that driving your car quick on the pirelli tyre just wont work it has taken nearly a season for Hammi to work this out even when his team are telling him to look after his tyres he still blitzes them, Alonso is smart Lewis is not but he does have natural raw speed and is the most exciting f1 driver i have seen.

Ive given Alonso best driver because he hasn't had the best car and he has made the best out of his situation, he has always been in contention this season and his starts hav

continue

have been brilliant he is always up there during a race even though his car has not been the best. He has destroyed Massa this season with a margin bigger than the Vettel Webber one. You know my Veiws on Vettel and i feel Button has benefited from the quicker wearing pirelli's and Lewis has just been like a sinusoidal wave peaks and dips.

I agree that Seb, Jenson and Ferdi are the stand out top 3 I would also put Mark and Michael joint 4th. Mark for getting his head down in the face of adversity unlike Lewis despite his 3 wins was very poor overall, and Mike for me was the most improved driver of the season although I'm still not a fan of his. He seemed to be dialled into the Merc much better this seaseon and was much closer to Nico. If Seb wasn't there people would have said this was a really great season instead of boring but Newey has always designed great cars to which Mansell, Prost, Villenueve, Hakkinen and now Seb can attest.

@ Angelina - There you go again...... Expecting everybody to jump on the "we love Seb" bandwagon.
Just because someone has better stats does not mean they are a better driver. If it was like that then 7 times WDC Schumi would be wasting everybody, but he isn't.
I still call Seb's Monza pole "lucky" just like Hulkenberg's pole at Brazil 2010. He didn't win the poll out of pure skill, just very lucky timing which caught the real front runners out. Lucky also the race was still wet and and the real front runners started down the field and caught up in traffic or mishaps.

EDIT by CRASH.NET! Poster insult removed.

@Matt
Seb is definitely better in rain.
Watch Suzuka 2007, Monza 2008, China 2009, Brazil 2009(not sure about rain),Canada 2011.

BTW he was unlucky in Suzuka 2007.
So many examples prove he is very good in rain.

Driver of the year has to be Vettel with no one coming close. No other driver has had a faultless drive at every race (with the exception of a minor oops in Canada which was no big deal really). Schumacher has to be up there for reminding us all just how good he really is. Just a pity that Merc screwed up the chassis - again(!).

Any rational person would have to choose Sebastian Vettel as the 2011 Driver of the Year.
He completely dominated the sport in all reagards for the entire season. He was driving beside a highly experienced and well respected driver in the same car and consitently outperformed him in all aspects.
He has now cemented his name alongside the greatest of F1 drivers. And he's only 24 years old.
Is there really any other choice?
