All change at Toro Rosso for 2012 with Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne both getting seats

Both drivers but Jaime Alguersuari in particular can feel pretty hard done by in what is a typically brutal Toro Rosso decision (ask Scott Speed and Seb Bourdais). That said the obvious conclusion is that both Riccardo and Vergne are fighting in a one or two season job interview for Mark Webber's seat.

Why have they got got rid of alg??? Thats the biggest load of crap. He had an amazing second half of the year and put in some good performances considering the opposition. Its funny that they have brought in some in dan who couldnt beat luzzi whos was someone str couldn't wait to get rid of. What a crap decision. I think vergne could be a very good signing though. Hes had a good year in wsr.

A shame STR's ambition is to just be a platform for the junior drivers and not to also strive to be the best team in F1 but at least they are giving their young drivers the opportunity but again with all these delays in announcing, its ridiculous to keep the Seb and Jaime waiting when they could be looking for a drive elsewhere. I reckon Alguersuari could go for that second seat at HRT.

Woah, I wasn't expecting a complete driver change!! Yes, I thought Ricciardo would get a drive because he has promise, but I thought Jaime would also get the drive because at the mid/end of the season, he out performed Buemi an awful lot, had some great finishes in the top 10 regularly, not to mention 6th in qualifying in Belgium!! Shame for Jaime, A waste of talent, Torro Rosso's loss hehe!! Buemi should try GP2 or GP3, he might do alright there!! I wish them both luck for the future!! :)

I'm massively disappointed that Alguesuari was dropped... I really rated him after the great second half of the year he has had. He was showing good race-craft and was consistently getting point scoring finishes. I hope he gets a drive next season.

wrong call..... Red Bull mupets.. will never go anywhere. the same subject will occur in 3 yrs time. with some talent drivers getting the drive and subsequently getting destroyed by Red Bull orders.

Alguersuari not in F1? Joke

Red Bull muppets will never go anywhere? I suspect a certain double world champion might disagree... I do agree that it's a strange decision though, I though Vergne would be better off looking for a GP2 seat.

wow, didnt see that coming, especially after algys comments today. he has been hard done by.
vergne is obviously a talent , but it will be interesting to see how ricciardo pans out.
yes taz, i still believe that putting ricciardo in the hrt was a bad move, but as he is a red bull sponsored protege, i can see why they would put him in the str. if he doesnt outperform vergne next year, he will probably be dropped by str, just as liuzzi was. so it is now up to him now!

Its easy really, there is no place for journeyman drivers or those drivers who havent lived up to expectation - unless of course you have a lot of money to bring to the team. Perform or get fired, near enough isn't good enough. Its a hard world F1, getting there is the easy bit, staying there is the real trick! Hard? yes, but thats the reality of F1 and motorsport in general

Guaranteed Ricciardo and Vergne wont be any better than Buemi and Alguersari. Torro Rosso are looking for the next Vettel but they need to realise they only come round every 10 or 15 years!

Buemi was ok, let's just hope Alguersari gets the second HRT seat, he's got a lot of potential.
