"Not sure how well that will work, the only driver in recent times who's done a decent job of running an F1 team is Berger."

You're forgetting a certain Christian Horner... Actually Peter Sauber, Frank Williams, Franz Tost and John Booth all have backgrounds as racing drivers, as well as Bernie Ecclestone and Hermann Tilke. If you look back through history the list gets very long. And let's not forget Jean Todt began his career as a rally co-driver. I don't think it's any worse to come from a racing background than it is to come from a background as engineer or economist, which seem to be the other two most common backgrounds for team principals.

Christian Horner,Peter Sauber,Frank Williams, Franz Tost,John Booth.....

We're talking about F1 drivers, not people who have been involved in racing in general

Well there hasn't been too many of those in recent times, has there? If you look a bit futher back though you'll find people like Bruce McLaren and Jack Brabham did a pretty decent job. Stewart had some success before selling the team I think, and Prost's team was pretty much killed by Peugeot, not by poor management.

Haha, no it wasn't me! But would you honestly claim that McLaren or Brabham have never in any capacity been team principals? So what if they were active as drivers aswell... I think you get the point anyway. And besides, it's the same as for drivers really, most team principals don't win the world championship but that does not make them complete failures. What I'm trying to say is if you really feel like you have to knock Perez-Sala before he's even started you'll need better arguments than "former racers don't make good team principals". Or, you could just hold your verdict until you know anything at all about how the guy runs a team. Kolles was probably doing ok given the circumstances but not really brilliantly, so let's see what this new management can do.
