@Enrico
Why say something unauspicious. Seb will b fine and even if he will b unwell, he will be there to collect his award. In 2005/2006, Seb was there to collect his F3 trophy though he had his arbitur(final exam) next morning.

@@@2Angelina
That was meant to be a joke.
I dont wish Seb any ill.

LAUREUS= Laureate, reward for achievement is adopted from italian Laurea= honoured with degree

Webber Top Award . Angelina , just a joke.
I know Seb will be there ., but i hope L. MESSI will win even if he he is a team player.
Best player i have seen , better than Maradona, Pele and the lot, and so very modest.

@@Ron Golden boy,
Yes i think that Bolt has already won in 2009 and 2010 or maybe i am wrong.
In theory he should win it every year because man is a land animal and running is the purest of all sports, no ball , car ,bike ect.

But after considering all that, i would give it once to a man in a group sport, because Messi ,like soccer or not, he learned to play football on Mars.

Ciao

Enrico, Messi is truly top draw, but i see you rate him over Diego. I belive for Messi to be compared with Maradona Messi would have to go to a club like Osasuna and take them to the La Liga tittle like the great Maradona did with a average Napoli side in the late eighties his influence in that team helped them to gain 2 serie A tittles 2 runner ups uefa cup super cup and 1 coppa italia and i runner up in the same competition.

And as for international duty he took a ordinary Argentina side and single handily won the 1986 world cup those runs against the English and Belgium defence was epic. Messi could not do the same in the last world cup when he and Argentina was taken apart by the Germans.

@@@RON GOLDENBOY

Yes , yes he must do more with the national team but after all as a player he is the best i have seen and he is only 24, the rest is in the hand of the Gods.
We can not expect Messi to leave Barcellona to prove that he is better than Maradona, but remember Diego was at Barcellona.
An Pele could have been with Brazil in a different period and been less successful.
It s a team sport so you can only make a good team better, but you can not make a team of donkeys win, so luck had a part with Maradona and Pele.
I am Italian and Napoli at the time was a good team and being the most passionate in Italy they wanted to win Serie A ,so they made a big sacrifice and bought Diego who wanted to leave where he was.
They won 2 Scudetti but not much more because even Diego with that Napoli could not take the best in Europe.
My brother who live in Italy followed Maradona and watches Messi says that he is better because he is so much faster.

Henry was faster than Messi does not mean he was better than Messi, and Maradona never had the likes of Iniesta or Xavi and if you had watched the 86 and 90 world cup you would know that he was the driving force behind both Argentina,s campaign.

But you surprise me with your comment about Maradona not cutting it with the best in Europe, he and Napoli finished scudetto champions above the European champions in 89/90 season which was AC Milan he scored 16 goals that season only the best striker to play in Italy bettered that which was Marco Van Basten. Believe me i know i am a fan of AC Milan from the late eighties through to the mid nineties as Chanel 4 a British channel showed sere A every Sunday because of Gazza joining Lazio from Spurs.

@Enrico
I wouldn't give it to Messi as he didn't do well in world cup. Intl tournaments shud b rated higher then European or other continental tournaments.

@@@RoN goldenboy
I see that we share a common love AC Milan , which i followed for decades.

You did not understand me.

Maradona was great but even with him NAPOLI did not do much in Europe,out of Italy.

@@@Angelina
A lot of experts rate club top competitions higher than national comps because of the degree of adhesion.
