Hmmm what can I say?

The race calendar is enough to give Bernie wet dreams, Bahrain, India, UAE, Qatar etc.

And the driver line up is enough to give the rest of us nightmares! Yamamoto, Fisi, Yoong, Liuzzi etc.

Has beens?

you call a championship winner (villeneuve) and a race winner (Fisi) has beens?

I see this as a compliment to F1 as it will train Indian young blood to race with pros and develop them as F1 material.

What is wrong with you ppl? Oh and taipan...unfortunately India and UAE have one of the largest crouds that F1 2011 witnessed. Plus India has the largest popln and a viewership equal to your countries.

Sorry to dissapoint you but your continent is on the verge of bankruptcy, F1 has to turn to Asia

Ak, if you want to make political jibes at my continent go for it, I don't really give a f..k because I am in no way nationalistic, unlike you. But be prepared as I may throw some political jibes back at you if you continue and I don't think you'd like that very much.

I think Hatta got it right. It serves no purpose beyond bigging up the motor racing tradition that India simply doesn't have. Building a tradition and developing local drivers can only be achieved via a network of small local circuits holding cheap to enter club races. Throwing a bunch of dollars and ex-F1 drivers at what is going to no doubt be a prohibitively expensive series won't do it. You need somewhere for kids to race karts, Formula Ford, Minis etc close to home at minimal expense. How does a series in which drivers arbitrarily "represent" Indian cities have any grassroots connections. Sounds to me like whatever that bizarre series was in which racing teams "represented" football teams. Artificial, pointless and ultimately just confusing.
