seroiusly doubt that massa wouldnt be perform at his peak leve..have you all heard in montezemolo message? "if we decided to give massa a good car" this is a hint thta ferrari is not going to spend too much time and effort into massa car than alonso..every f1 team will always one car that is better tuned and perform better than no.2 driver car..we ALL know! who's car is a bettr tuned than massa..Dont be surprise that RK will replaced massa before 2012 season ends like what ferrari did to kimi....it will happen!

Ferrari need a solid development driver who can feedback and help improve the car but who is good enough to be rear gunner to Alonso. Di Resta would be a great name to have in a Ferrari! Also potential to become lead driver in a couple of years- watch this space for 2013....

The Hamilton comparison is pretty inevitable really. Massa finished the season P6, one position behind Hamilton and two positions behind his teammate, in what is arguably the third-best car. Hamilton, on the other hand, finished three positions behind his teammate in P5, in what surely has to be the second-best car. So in a way Hamilton's end result is in fact much worse than Massa's. Yet he gets this kind of critique, and people call for his retirement... Now I'll admit the points differences tell a different story but the final position is what matters most to the teams in the end.

Perhaps he should consider a switch to McLaren, where he too might have the luxury of having a team management that is willing to put his poor seasons down to bad luck! :P

I think your comment is misleading sodesu. Despite his eratic behavior, and prima donna attitude, Lewis still showed flashes of brilliance. The team could tell that when he was focused he was as good as anyone. If Lewis had a real focus on the season he could have won a few more races.

Massa never showed any noteworthy form. if he had at least 2 or 3 podiums i think ferrari would be fine with him.

You all make valid points of course. But I think I did too - if you look at the results, Lewis' season was probably even worse. I agree about the flashes of brilliance, but that will not be enough in the long run. They both need to improve next year or their team will (in the case of Massa) or should (in the case of Hamilton, I fear) show them the door. I just think that the critique is slightly unfair on Massa - P6 in the third best car is in a way much closer to success than to complete disaster. He is still within what can be expected in that car at that moment. The comparison with LH, I think, puts that in perspective.

I like Massa and I think he can still do much better, but the question is if he can bounce back at Ferrari. Maybe he needs to start fresh elsewhere.

Rob, you are absolutely right in your assessment about FM/FERRARI, but still FERRARI honoured his contract as he is preferred over a driver like Lulu, read what LDM said about FERRARI preference re anybody that drives for them, it is exactly because of this that I said some time ago that Lulu with all his speed is not considered FERRARI material.
