At the start of the season, I felt that Mercedes were going to cause Ferrari problems, they almost caught Massa, but Alonso was a class above, only Vettel and Button spent more time on the podium, no better motivation for the team to come up with a competitive car than watching Fernanda race 'the truck' amongst the highly honed machines from McLaren and Red Bull, even though he is good to watch.

Yes, of course, Massa is the real benchmark and Fernando, despite being well beaten by a rookie, is still the best, in your minds.

Best you keep on repeating the mantra about how incredibly bad his car was and how great everybody elses was, otherwise you might catch the nasty cold draft of reality... and you know Mummy does not like you going out if you are not well wrapped up warm.

So, what happens when he fails, yet again ?

Alonso has had 2 of the largest contracts in any sport history.

By 2016, if what i read was correct, Fernando will have received from Ferrari the incredible sum of 400 million, and it must be euro considering the time frame.
that would be a lot of sponsor money with no return if Titles dont come along.

Ferrari better have faith in him...they're paying him enough. IMHO, FA is the better driver, and now SV falls into the club. You don't become double WDC without skill.
