There should be only one criteria, that you are fast enough. If after a couple of seasons of learning the tracks and getting used to the car you are struggling then it shold be OUT. Paul DiResta has shown what a rookie can do.

I agree with the fact that it should be the fastest on the grid and not the richest. I dont think it is so easy to get rid of pay drivers cause even the top drivers bring in sponsorship - eg Alonso and Santander

Petrov or Senna, in the Lotus Racing Team this year, I'm sure, would have at least matched/beat Heikki on several occassions this year. Heikki is no star driver - Jarno is just that bad.

After Jarno's latest complete snoozefest season I think the last thing he should be doing is calling other drivers commitment to question.
As for them not being worth it, at least they pay to play at being F1 drivers, Jarno expects a wage for ****ing around at the back! He should wear a mask when it comes to wage negotiations, Jarno Turpin, Highwayman!

(Trulli) "Pay drivers lacked commitment"

I'd say it was the opposite.

If you've got your own money on the line, you're going to try harder than if you taking home a big fat salary for pottering around at the back of the grid.

At least Senna and Petrov are decent paydrivers with decent speed...Senna lacks experience, Petrov maturity but 2012 could be their breakthorugh season if people like Jarno, Heiki, Rubens, etc. weren't there just to wear this F1 outfit and to pretend being race drivers

There have been pay drivers in F1 since it's inception. And in every form of motorsports. Jarno taking a seat for last 15 years bugs me far more than someone having sponsors. If he could generate enough interest from a major sponsor he would sit in a better seat himself.
