The only source in this article is that Barrichello told the BBC he thinks the team would benefit from keeping a more experienced driver. Of course he would say that. So yes, this is a total non-story.

Ben, The thing that's changed is that Patrick Head has stepped away from Williams F1 all together, and Patric was sick listening to Barrichello whine all season long about the teams lack of performance, now that Head's gone maybe there's a chance for Moaning Mini to eek out another year of his career at Williams.
He wont win anything, or have any great races but he will be able to say "I'm the first driver to race in F1 for 20 consecutive seasons" That might stop him whining for a few days, then again it might not once he realises that all he's really achieved is to out-Patrese Riccardo Patrese in hanging around F1 longer than anyone else, drove some of the best cars and won next to sod all!

Love how this story has started a debate on Senna's crash?? lol.

I must correct a couple of things that have been said.

The fact is that the true cause of Senna's accident was not officially determined.

Damon Hill told the Senna enquiry that he believed it to be a driver error.

My personal feeling is that the steering column broke. I don't believe that the column would have been broken by the impact of the crash just a few inches away from where the column meets the steering wheel. But that is just my opinion, and a fan of F1 and an engineer, I accept that I cannot know because I don't possess all the facts.

Officially, no one does. The true cause has never been determined.

Back on topic, wouldn't it be harsh on Bruno if he AGAIN lost out to an F1 drive to Rubens. I wonder what Brazil makes of that, it's next big hope being hindered by the washed-up has been that was his famous uncles protege. Ironic.

Correct, and Senna was complaining that other cars had electronic advantage and he felt unsafe and he threaten to pull out just before the fatale race.

It was all narrated in Senna THE MOVIE.
I dont think fiction would be allowed in the Documentary.

I think Richard you want to be briefed BY @@@@Taipan on this because your friend saw what we saw.

oli etc. true that there was never a definitive result of the enquiry, but it was proven by telemetry . that the steering column was NOT the cause of the accident. the italians wanted to prove that it was, so that a criminal action could be taken against williams. the universally accepted cause was the underinflation of the tyres due to slow running, causing the car to bottom on a know bump, (video shows this bottoming) and losing steering control on the rebound. senna was pushing to try and contain schumi, whom he saw as a threat.
anyway, what happened, happened!

Enrico, I agree with Oli's first point. The cause of the crash was never proven. A broken steering column was often blamed and investigated but never proven, and the Italian courts tried to prove it for many years.

As for the Senna movie, I think there was quite a bit of fiction in that, Balestre and Prost being in cahoots because they were both French is one example, the problem with films like this one is that people see it once and forever after assume that it was the truth.

Good point Victor, about if Wallys need Rubens to move forward then they are in big trouble. But if Wallys think Bruno Senna is the way forward, then they are in even bigger trouble!!! Bruno is nowhere near his uncles talent, and should get home to Brazil and stop making his mother worry about him!!! There are too many top drivers out there for Bruno to ever start winning races, so he should stay on the beach and take life easy....#:)

Nobody really knows how things or accidents happen except maybe those closely involved, all the rest of us can only speculate pretending to have higher or lesser knowledge.

So whose truth is the real truth??

Because all our knowledge is acquired knowledge through third parties all the time from the 4 corners of the globe.

In the end true is what you the individual want to believe.

Good night.

Enrico, the truth CAN'T simply be what you want to believe, I want to believe that the moon is made of cheese, but people have proven that it isn't, so it aint true whether i want to believe it or not.

The Senna crash was investigated for years in Italy, there is, was, never will be any proof that the steering column broke causing the crash, so it's a myth. People can still believe the myth if they like but it doesn't make it the truth.
