Its not about safety. It's about parity. They want a show. Close racing with a fair amount of passing. They can keep cost down as a spec series and turn to gimmicks to cast a cloud over the fact that the cars are nearly the same. Get rid of the DRS as the phony tires can do the trick.

great article, explains the history well. i agree with DRS but i dont belive in having one zone so close to the next. the button webber incident the writer talks about was terrible, webber worked had to get his man then he ends up with no reward. really he had no time to consolidate his pass and build a gap. i think a driver should be rewarded for chasing down and passing someone, not just become the hunted straight after.

Rob - I talked about parity, but that's not true F1 is it ? No - F1 is suppose to be about innovation and who can build the best car and lead in technology.
The safety thing slows the cars down too which sucks.

For everyone yearning for a return to the halcyon days of unlimited development - it isn't going to happen. The only team that could justify the expenditure is Ferrari, as they could use some technology in their road cars, everyone else would be spending more than they'd make and go broke. So we have two choices: Use systems like design rules, to give everyone a level playing field and include failsafes like KERS and DRS to ensure that crap teams don't hold up the fast ones, or get rid of all the rules and watch Ferrari go around the track by itself.

I love the Idea of DRS, Front&Rear...But leave it to the Driver! No Zones, can't use it on a lapped Car or Wet race.Maybe the Guy in front should be able to use 50% or so. Some of the best Passes in 2011 did not involve DRS, but something has to be done to overcome the Dirty Air that these Cars Produce. Go Kamui!!!!
