Ive always like Rubens even though I'm a Schumacher fan. When he drove for Jordan he was my favourite driver and I still think he is and always has been as talented as many higher rated drivers such as Button or Massa. He was unfortunate that he had to team mate with Michael as he was never gonna win that battle. His performance in Donington 93 said it all about his speed and car control.

I'd be much more interested in seeing how he would get on in Indy Car than just have him filling a space with a midlow rank F1 team. Time for a new challenge Rubens.

This is the best news to come from Indycar for many months. New chassis, engines, venues, chief steward, and a personable driver of proven caliber. What could be better than that? Given the ending of last season, it's crucial to produce a positive upswing.

I love this sport.

@ OZ Fan

The car may look ugly but the safety aspects they have introduced may have saved Dan Wheldon who also was instrumental in the design.

As for Rubens if he still feels the Need for Speed why not have a go. He was up to speed with Kanaan and Vasser who aren't slouches in the category.

He is likeable/personable and would be a morale boost for IRL

Barrichello will add some cred to the series, I don't see him beating Power or Franchitti over a season but on his days he'd be good to watch, a good move for everyone involved

I really hope to see Rubens on the grid with a new challenge. He'll find out soon enough though that he's up against some very tough competition. Can't wait for the season to start!
