Caterham are looking as if they are a team on the rise. With the personnel they have added from the bigger teams and now adding younger, more hungry drivers, they at least are putting forth the effort to improve and move forward. Virgin and HRT cannot say the same.

Glad to see a fellow countryman at least get a foot in the door in F1. The three years of GP2 didn't quite pan out as well as hoped after the WSBR title and some testing at Renault, Super Aguri and Spyker and I think most Dutch fans had already given up on thinking he'd graduate to F1 so this chance is a welcome surprise. Apparently they must have been in quite serious talks with HRT too as this comes one day after Karthikeyan is confirmed there.

I don't think Giedo has what it takes to win in F1 but I reckon he's good enough to hang with most of the guys in the 2nd half of the field and he's well funded so I'm looking forward to see what happens if he gets a chance to replace Trulli.

I'm not sure why young drivers want to be the reserve driver in struggling F1 teams. There you hardly get seat time and few drivers move from a test driver role to a permanent role because of this. The way to get noticed by all of the teams is to do well in GP2 and you are racing, gaining experience and having fun at the same time.

There are types of young and aspiring drivers that wants to get into F1, the once (few) who looks promising and gets noticed by the big teams, the once who looks promising but also got good contacts and gets into a big team, the once who got money and gets into a middle/back of the grid team.
Nowadays it looks like the fastest way forward to get an F1 drive or occasional F1 drive got nothing to do with talent but all to do with money
