F1 » German GP in doubt as 'Ring cancels contract?


The future of the German Grand Prix could be thrown into disarray after the local government ousted the operators of the Nurburgring.

Oh no!!! This may not be 'the ring', but it has some character, its own climate, unlike the flat open spaces of the middle east, who could possibly afford to build a circuit for each team!

Thats a shame, think it's a far more interesting circuit than hockenheim.

Can run a race but are willing to give Greece 120 billion euros which will be wasted...hmmmm

I think the article misses a very important point...

The Ring (F1 circuit and Nordshcleife) were being turned into an business/amusement park by NAG with no regard for the history of either facility or maintaining its racing heritage. Staff had already been laid off, and facilities such as the Ring Taxi had been scrapped. They were pouring money into the area with zero return and the entire facility was in jeopardy.

Now the contracts have been cancelled, the facility can return to government control and focus put back where it belongs - on racing and keeping the greatest circuit in the world in use, for the 24hr race and allowing entusiasts to turn up, pay their 20eur and experience a legendary track!!

This development is fantastic news for the Ring.
