F1 » Hill: Button always a dark horse

Damon Hill: At the end of last year I thought Jenson was super strong and you started to put money on him each time. [Whereas with] Lewis you always feel could go either way...

Agreed,

You have to ask if LH has learned ANYTHING from the past few seasons or will he keep making the same old mistakes.

My money is on same old from LH and a stormer from JB!

Mike B.
I agree. And I think drives like the one he did in Canada qualify as "extra oomph" in most people's eyes.
Personally, I think the top three in the driver's championship, in no particular order, could be Vettel, Button and Alonso. The three qualities they share, that the others might not, are: tremendous speed, measured and critical approach to the race, and excellent style that compliments the tires.
Hope I am wrong, as I would love to see six drivers fighting for the top spots.

Of course. Button could take it all. He throttled Hamilton. He Blew Webber away (in the 'best' car.) And put all the others in the shade. A commanding 2nd place. Only Sebastian Vettel stood in his way as the 2011 World Champion.

you could say that about anyone from the top four teams at the moment since we have no idea who has extracted the most from the regulation changes and produced a championship winning car.

the one thing that could count against button is the reduction in downforce caused by the banning of the EBD. all the experts agree the cars will move around a lot more this year and i don't think button is the best in that scenario.

if the championship ends with the three quickest drivers it will be vettel, teflonso and hamilton. Order?? would have to say vettel again based on current form, hamilton 2nd if mclaren car turns out to be quick and 3rd teflon.

Jenson is definitely a contender for 2012. He is oozing with confidence, he has beaten his teammate albeit with Hammi not being fully focused on his job at Mclaren, but that's not Jensons fault, and has settled in well at Mclaren.

Hope it will be close this season and if Vettel comes out victorious again with cars performing similar then we will have to hold our hands up and agree he is the real deal, but the RB7 performance was just to much of a contributing factor in Vettel's achievements last year for me, so i hope 2012 will answer a few questions.

without anyone making a fool of themselves and hiding the truth. button is not a comparison to LH. LH and Alonso are the only driver capable of winning a championship other than SV. button is good but not close to LH. he got luck due to LH loosing is Head and some bad luck. a lot of you say all sort of bad things about LH but in truth we all know who's got the racer balls. the only time button performs well is which LH was not on tract long enough. we all know who is faster and full of raw talent.

Talking about average driver LH is not one of them. his only been beaten once by a time mate which was due to large number of error.

in every race in 2011 LH was the only man who continually can close to red bull in qualifying and the only driver SV was and Redbull were always watching in qualifying.

Button is good but not to compare with LH. time will tell. watch and see
