The climate now is such that everyone needs to keep an eye on expenditure, including BE, spending a mere 12 million on his daughters wedding (a gift) was a far better way to spend the profit he made from the TV rights sale than redistributing the cash back into the sport, i mean, you couldnt go very far in f1 with 12m (less than half of Maldonado's Williams seat)

Maybe it's time for a rethink on the way money is distributed within the sport (if we can still call it a sport) pay the teams by virtue of how they finish in the constructors but take the money from the profits on ticket sales at the circuit rather than tv revenue. Let's see how important it is to have GPs in India, China, Korea, Singapore and Bahrain every year when teams will be fighting for profits of a 1/3rd full circuit! This would cut long haul travel expenses in half if we alternated - for example China with Korea every year and Singapore with India for example?

Rob01, you're right of course. You'll never get an off the cuff comment from BE because everything he says, he says for a reason. The reason is usually money related, but we may not know it, yet.

You wonder where the money goes Bernie? The teams need it to make a car to match the rules.....the rest of it is in your pocket Bernie....ask yourself the question again where does the money go......just look into the mirror Bernie most of it is in your pocket!

@westham

The money raised is split 50-50 with CVC and the teams, and from CVC's cut they pay Ecclestone US$15million (according to the last returns at Companies House).

It's quite simple really limit teams to spending a % of their income the teams that can generate the most income will have the better resources. It's interesting that berine is saying teams should spend less money when f1 is due a new concord agreement it looks to me that bernie wants a bigger slice of the pie than before
