It could be last years Red Bull with blown diffuser and all the trimmings, Felipe would sadly still be nowhere near where he should be.

I like Felipe and it was great to see him make a return from his crash in Hungary. A few years ago, on his day he could be the fastest guy in F1. It so nearly won him a title.

But the magic is long gone and sadly, I think the fight has gone too.

Where does Felipe go from here? Teams like Force India, Torro Rosso and Sauber have big young talents coming through. We might see him in a Williams or a Caterham, to disappear into history in a couple of seasons time. Quite sad really.

So what about criticism from the media for a whole season of poor performance? Or is that too short a time to judge? Hope Kubica gets back in a car soon so he can take Massa's seat.

if you read the story, you will see that there was something "unusual" about chassis 3. ferrari wouldnt rush to produce a new chassis if they felt that there was anything wrong with the driver. there are also suspicions that massa was actually trying out a developement job, similar to what he did in the last few races of last year. give the lad a chance.

incidentally, there were only FOUR drivers to get through to q3 in every race last year. these were..alonso, lulu, seb, and ...guess who?...massa!

You could pick many statistics to highlight any drivers performance, and a result like this is down to a lack of bad luck in qualifying. Wouldn't you agree that Championship points relative to the team mate are a better indication of a driver's performance?

matt. you could of course be right, but it could equally prove that he is not as bad as some make him out to be, or to a surfeit of bad luck in the races...to have lulu BEHIND him, and torpedoeing him off the road!
