Sergio Perez has been a revelation for me, and with his performance on Sunday, Ferrari will have him in place at the earliest convenience. Sauber, had better decide who they want to step into his car.

I am certain that Domenicali was discussing a potential mid-season switch to Ferrari with Perez on the podium. I expect that this discussion not only involved if Perez was willing but also payment terms, driver status with Alonso, duration of contract, and what size overalls he wears. Because the podium is exactly the right place for this. The podium is the place where all driver negotiations take part. It's the obvious best place for this to happen.

"but Perez refuses to be drawn into talk of a rapid promotion to become Alonso's team-mate, despite being spotted in conversation with Stefano Domenicali on the podium."

That's laughable journalism at it's best. Yep, I saw the contract signed, didn't you? Let's have a chat on the podium and discuss terms. Come on Crash. That's like a 12 y/o comment.

For what it's worth, regarding the title, when Ferrari cough up the bucks, Perez will be there.

@rawpace: It also means they're not considering Checo as a replacement.... yet. RTL Germany was talking about Ferrari giving Massa 9 races to get his act together (meaning points finishes), so Germany is the evaluation point.

did you never hear of the comment.."one swallow does not a summer make"?
we have seen races before, where an out of normal result has been achieved. perez did well, there is no doubt about that, but he needs to show that this was not just a fluke result, before you start idolising him.
after all, he beat lulu, schumi, kimi, webber etc yesterday, but do you really believe that he is as good as any of them?
