While never truly content with third place in a Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton nonetheless declared himself "satisfied" with his podium finish in Malaysia in the circumstances

F1 as always been fan based, Prost took a lot of abuse from the Brazilian fans when he and Senna had there rivalry at Mclaren and Senna was treated by his fans like the Argies treats Messi and i also remember as a youngster Silverstone being invaded like a football pitch when Mansell won a race bit like when the Scotts i'm told ripped up the Wembley pitch in the seventies.

It seems some on here are being a little pompous the day of f1 being a rich boy hobby is over it is now a world sport for all to enjoy, and i must thank a boy from Hertfordshire from a humble background in bringing many millions of new fans to this sport.

So all i can say to the maturer f1 fan is move on and don't be like the two grumpy old men who posts on here.

Taipan, i was a Mansell and a Schumacher fan before Lewis came on the scene and after he has gone im sure there might be a driver i will enjoy, but must admit 606 bbc forum along with the BBC coverage of 2010 an 11 has got me more interested in the technical side of f1 and sky has just taken things to another level, not only with the technical aspects but also with the history of the sports.

Vettel's poor form seems to have a poster lashing out. One who has become a broken record. Maybe you should try flipping us off or some name calling. It's the stuff champions are made of. You of all people calling someone a fanboy is hilarious.

rob. who is your post aimed at? if it is me, well, i am not a fanboy of anybody. i may have a slight bit of favouritism for vettel, but this is due to seeing what he has achieved. but if he stuffs up , he will be criticised just like any other.
but i would like to point out that a driver who beats your idol or inteferes with him, comes in for a lot of abuse . alonso, massa, vettel, etc.
i criticise lulu as he is accident prone. if he wins the wdc this year, he will earn some respect, but he has to properly display his talents.
and as for vettels poor form? he is racing hard, has a second and was running fourth until he and nk had a contretemp. one has taken blame and been punished, and as far as i am concerned, it is over. but some prolong the argument as they do not accept the stewards findings!

Mr 1 finger called his fellow driver a cucumber on german national TV and again called him an idiot on british national TV that is after a middle finger sign to him on the track twice but yet he doesn't get as more negative comment as lewis who simple manage a 3rd after all the late call, pit error and slowing down to avoid debris

if LW made the same bold statement about other drive it will be headline for months

@Richard and Taipan, lets get one thing clear, please dont intimate I'm a Hamilton fanboy (or fanboy of any driver for that matter) as I find it rather insulting.

@ richard, so its ok for the fingerboy and not LH to race hard and get into mixes,..If LH would have apprehended how much of a cheated car Neweys RB7 was ,and there was no way it could have been beaten, except in mixed conditions, maybe he would not have tried so hard, but at the end of the day, lets be fare,LH is the one they all want to beat.WHY...

I prophesied last year when the fingerboy was DNFd in Abu Dhabi, that he would not win a race in 2012,and LH would be WDC,and you guys pressed the D button.

After the first 2 races of the 2012 season, it appears that Lewis has matured. If he persist in keeping his cool and avoiding mistakes he has a good chance of winning the wdc. For the sake of team moral he did not blame the pit crew and thank them instead. But for anyone watching the race on tv it is obvious the late calls for tire changes and fumbling with the jack and removal of the tape lost the race for him. To be fair to him someone in the team should come out and explain why the tape was there in the first place and why it needed to be removed! A multi million $ car of the highest level of technology held together by duct-tape?
