F1 » Call didn't distract Perez from pursuit

The call from Sauber to Sergio Perez urging caution in his pursuit may have excited conspiracy theorists, but had no effect on the driver himself.

It wasn't a 'team' order but I think that had they not sent that message he'd have got the win. Despite him taking the responsibility for the mistake publicly it seems quite clear it broke his rhythm or concentration, stopping him doing what comes naturally as he thinks 'f**k, better not bin this.' I seem to remember a similar call during the last rally in the 2003 or 2004 wrc that broke the drivers concentration causing an accident and ultimately changing the balance of the championship.

Team sent him a message that, you can try to win the race but most important thing is to finish the race regardless in 1st or 2nd.

That was it , wan't it?

Let's see, pit one lap later than Fernando - team decision, then the radio call...
Cost him first place for sure.
Sauber and Ferrari have a close relationship, at the very least as the engine supplier, and Ferrari were desperate for some good news in order to stave off the nightmare that they have been living in the Italian Media.
If I were a betting man, I would put money on Sauber making an "error" if it helped Ferrari out that much.
Oh, and George Bush had the World Trade Center blown up.. :) :) :)

Why are people more surprised that he nearly tossed it in the hedge and less surprised that he put together that many fast laps? lol. Between the late portion of the run on inters and the slick tire run, he put together a huge number of laps that were mostly spot on. For a guy that's only in his 21st F1 race that was very impressive, especially considering this was under the pressure of actually running at the sharp end of the field.

I just wanted to hear the Mexican national anthem at an F1 race!
