Thought my post from another thread would go nice here...... Jenson has every right to be classed in the same bracket as any other driver in F1 past and present...

In my opinion if Mclaren continue to upgrade their car well during the season the WDC is only gonna go to one driver.... named Jenson Button!.

People need to give Button the credit that he deserves... He has Fairly beaten two F1 world champions as his team mates in Villeneuve and Hamilton!.

There is something i thought of which i found rather interesting and may be quite scary for Alonso to consider... The teams that Button did it in where totally set up around the guy on the opposite side of the garage.
i.e BAR was formed and set up around Villenuve and craig pollock.

Mclaren lay their cards on the deck and rebuilt their team around Hamilton.. That was plain to see after the alonso hamilton debacle.

With this in mind, Alonso imho should be very worried if Button was ever to be his team mate Coz i wouldnt bet against hi

'when given the right car"

well last weekend clearly wasnt the right car

05 and 06 renualt was not the best car.

and to the guy talking about being beaten by a rookie. if lewis performances had improved since 07 id say fair enough but they havent. he has never had a season as good. even his title winning year wasnt as good as 07.

just another hater. who likes to point fingers and nothing more, he might have won a title back in '79 but his career in f1 was nothing impressive. i bet that many ppl who actually loved the sport have no idea who the guy is

@Firestorm..

If i ran my own team that was looking for a top class driver that could help to build a great F1 car, who could also finish well most races and get the best out of the car on a consistant basis while creating a fantastic positive attitude within the team...

For me that driver would have to be Jenson button.

Vettel is to childish, Alonso is not a good team player, Hamilton bins the car too much and is also too imature right now, rosberg has yet to prove himself, schumacher is not the driver he was, Webber is to inconsistant imo, Perez is doing a fine job but has not been around long enough just yet.

Button has to be classed as one of, if not THE BEST current driver in F1 today.

hartley. dont go on about button....this is a thread about alonso!

i must admit that i never warmed to alonso, but i have to acknowledge that he is a good racer. he can wring more performance from a bad car, than any other driver on the grid.
