I still get the feeling that circumstances have hidden Mercedes true race performance, added to the fact that during the break between races, Mercedes 'boffins', Mr Mewey and Co, Byrne, Fry and co along with McLarens race simulation team and the others, have all been 'planning' the next step. Schumacher and Rosberg will at some point be a factor at the front of the field. The time to go racing again is getting close, cant wait!

The lack of pace during the race could be something as simple as having only one or two DRS activation areas during a race while a driver may use DRS at will during practice and qualifying. I could see a half-second gain during practice and qualifying...easily.

david, i am not sure if you are falling into the misconception trap. you are right that there are only one or two drs areas in the race, but remember, these can only be used IF the merc is within 1 sec of the car ahead, and trying to pass. so it is more than likely that merc will not, or cannot use the w duct at any time during the race. the duct has clearly helped them in quali, but it does nothing to help race pace.
