Richard
That was way long back. The sport has changed since then. Look at Schumi's comeback.

BTW I doubt that a no.2 in any team can be a WDC. He has to beat his teammate first. Whatever the car, you have to beat ur teammate in the same car to be a WDC.

@Taipen

Fangio didn't enter in 1952 as he broke his neck, so he missed the season to defend his title. It took him 2 seasons in F1 to win the WDC again.

Graham Hill only got the 2nd WDC as Clark got killed that year and I'm sure everybody here would agree Clark would of crushed him over the season.

Not looking good for Lewis then!!!!

Before the decision to change the G-box, i guess Jenson was agonized of the thought of Lewis achieving the triple at Shanghai, putting him on 55 points, and if he (JB)finished 2nd he would have 43 points, not a very nice thought for the machiavellian..,so how delightful for him, and we shall all breath a sigh of relief !

But this is F1,and anything can happen,if it rains, dont underestimate the Sauber C31.

"poor lulu fans" good points. I certainly agree that Clark would have walked away with the 68 championship as long as his Lotus was half reliable, I would imagine that Graham Hill would have thought that too!

It is quite a striking statistic don't you think?

The Main reason Lulu didn't performed well last season was because he knew Vettel had already that season in the bag ( so he was like why bother)... Lulu mostly race to be Champion... compare to Button who happen to have a more relax approach on racing ... to each their own

Also i don't think The 2011 Red Bull was that dominant. i mean look at Webber... Sebasten Vette is a lot more talented than people like to believe. If it wasn't for Button in 2009 Vettel would have been today a 3 time back to back champion... go Lewis

Schumacher, 94-95 and 2000-1-2-3-4
Fangio, 54-55-56-57
Prost, 85-86
Brabham, 59-60
Senna, 90-91
Ascari, 52-53
Hakkinen, 98-99
Alonso, 05-06
Vettel, 10-11

My Fangio stat is not under attack it's being backed up, the chap before gave a reason why there was a gap between his first two championships and my point is the gap between first and second championships not second and third as with Niki's, the stats suggest that if you dont win a second championship quickly after the first there will be no third.
