F1 » Kobayashi thrilled with best ever qualifying

Kamui Kobayashi: I am very happy, the team did a great job. This grid position obviously means a lot of chances. We have a strong car, normally it is good on tyres and I am looking forward to the race full of confidence.

Brilliant quali for Sauber. A private team showing up some of the big boys. Let's hope for a good race result for them. Brilliant pole nor Nico too, but the mercs won't be so fast in the race without their super DRS...or will they?

Great effort from Sauber and Kobayashi - I'm especially pleased that they're showing up Ferrari, their engine supplier.

Good on Perez for knocking Massa out of Q2, he'll be less of a bother in the race back there.

I cannot wait to see Kamui starting from 3rd on the grid. Hope he will have a trouble free race with a good start, a good strategy and good pit-stops. Make our Japanese dream come true, Kamui!

This could be really good for Kobayashi and Sauber since Mercedes have no race pace. Kobayashi should definitely attack in the first corner to get ahead quickly and run with it.

This is a great way to answer Perez' 2nd and almost at the last race. I hope Kamui can have a trouble free weekend, as something always seems to go wrong for him in race or quali.

It's refreshing to see the Saubers doing so well. It's also mighty impressive to see the top 10 cars split by 2 tenths in Q2. This can only make for an exciting season, surely!

Kamui is definately the big danger man for this race, he is quick, able to overtake where few others can and the Sauber long run pace is excellent. I reckon there's going to be fireworks between MS & NR into turn one...
