McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh says botched pit-stop may not have been enough to cost Jenson Button victory in Chinese GP.

Jenson drove a great race, but I don't think he had a decent shot at Rosberg either even if that pit-stop had gone ok. I don't doubt Rosberg could have gone faster if he needed to. Rosberg and his Merc were just too strong in China for any other driver/team to beat them. Let's see what Bahrein brings.

I think he might have taken a bit of time out but Rosberg was lapping consistently and quickly and probably had a bit in reserve so Whitmarsh is probably right....haven't said that for a while.

I do think Whitmarsh was right...

But it was such a shame that we missed out on a great last few last laps coz if ANYBODY could have caught Rosberg it would of been Button.

He's shown in the past that he is great at pressurising other drivers when it counts... And considering that Rosberg would of been a little worried about getting his car home for the win.. A fast closing Button could of pushed him over the edge..... But now we will never know!.

Nevermind next race... Its anyones guess what is gonna happen in Bahrain!. I just hope the weekend passes without and trouble!.

Tend to agree with Whitmarsh, Rosberg's pace was still good on the later laps so I don't think Button would have caught him. But Whitmarsh is needing to sort out his pit crew, bad stops are becoming a habit it could end up being costly.

Agree it would have been difficult to catch Nico and that was a great drive. However I do feel at this moment in time, apart from the previous race, Jenson appears to be the most complete driver on the grid. Smooth, fast but also a new aggressive streak. The move on Vettel being very late and brave. Great start to what appears a very open season.

A botched pit stop also put Schumacher out the race completely. Merc were looking at a possible 1-2 so Whitmarsh is understandably quite happy with a 2-3. Its better than a 3-4.
Conjecture as much as you like, it wont change the result...

Just my opinion but nico finished 20.6 seconds infront of jenson and jenson was at stand still for 9 seconds roughly 6 more than usual so that still leaves 14.6 seconds and i doubt all of that was lost behind sebastien as his tyres were not bad at the start lil bit newer than nicos i believe? so it would have been a hard battle for jenson with the possibility of destroying his own tyres catching up... Kudos to Nico he drove an absolute Stormer!!!

100% my opinion...

Rosberg drove a sublime race, which is in keeping with his unpretentious confidence.Only Schumacher could possibly have overhauled him, but judging by his supreme qualifying pole he had so much in reserve the win was always his. Rosberg served up a sweet and crushing victory. Fantastic!
