Toro Rosso's Jean-Eric Vergne will not be handed a penalty for ignoring officials waving him into the weigh bridge following his qualifying stint in Bahrain.

Sure he's a rookie, but it's more than that.

Jean todt is the FIA president.
He is french.
He has been fighting to get a french driver in the sport for a long time.
He was the master mind behind Bourdais getting into F1.

The FIA stewards did not want to upset their boss's boss, without first giving the french rookie a shot at straightening up.

Do you think it's a coincidence that all of a sudden there are 3 Frenchman in the sport?

(Mind you, a partisan stance didn't seem to work when Mr. Mosley was in the seat for, how many years?)
