"A race to forget" was Daniel Ricciardo's verdict on a disappointing race in Bahrain, after early contact left him unable to deliver on his excellent qualifying performance.

Vergne finished in front 3 out of 4 and it could have been 4 despite his woes in qualy and he's a complete rookie in F1...It's the race that matters. Someone has to defend Jean-Eric ! :p

OK, this time Daniel had some troubles at the start but somehow the commentators failed to state that given the gap in qualy JEV must have had some issues as well on Saturday. And that's where I'd give some kudos to Daniel who recognised that fact.

Hopefully, the race pace of the STR improves so that their drivers can at least fight in the middle pack.

Riicardo is outqualiying Vergne but Vergne is outracing Riccardo.

Neither really looking the goods after 4 GP (riccardo really in his 15th GP) - the drivers they replaced - Buemi and Alguesari must now be asking why they were turfed in favour of 2 mediocre hacks.

Vergne is a complete rookie and Riiciardo had 11 full GP under his belt - yet Verne has beaten Ricciardo in 3 out of 4 races (and almost in the only one he didnt - which was his very first ever race). On the whole Ricciardo isnt delivering - he's done 17 GP now - several great drivers had already won a race by this stage of their careers and Ricci is not looking anywhere close to even finishing top 6. If he doesnt improve by ace 10 i would say his 2013 conract will be under serious threat. U got 6 more races to deliver son. This aint Formula Vee!

You guys backing JV are wrong. Ricciardo clearly has the edge on saturday & on sunday in 2 of the 4 races he has had 2 first lap incidents. Australia was one of them & he came back to be JV, Bahrain was the other & he came back to finish behind JV. In Malaysia JV didnt pit for full wets which put him way up the order for the restart, & in China they finished 1 after the other too

hardly convincing for JV

The mistake was the idiot Kovalainen taking D R's front wing and getting a puncture all in one reckless move..

If thats the result of Kovalainen being out of place on the grid lets hope no ever gifts him a q2 spot again

Such idiocy, all very well to mention his 17 or so GPs under his belt, compared to Vergnes 4, but 3/4s of them were with HRT? What can you expect from that? That was just for experience, getting racetime under his belt. Its almost pointless mentioning those GPs.

Ricciardo was racing at the back for HRT, it's hardly been competitive racing experience.
Sky Sports commented that Vergne was supposed to "blow the doors off Ricciardo this season, but it's not happening" - Martin Brundle. Ricciardo clearly has lap pace considering his qualifying form. Vergne will have to improve that part of his race if he has any chance of picking up good points. Ricciardo just needs to stay out of trouble on the first laps!

'Sky Sports commented that Vergne was supposed to "blow the doors off Ricciardo this season, but it's not happening" - Martin Brundle'

Give it time - i'm sure the Vergne explosion is just around the corner - he has just had teething troubles but when he settles he'll unleash hell on his team-mate - trust me I understand how the sport works better than 99.9999% of people. Whereas Ricciardo has already complete a fair chunk of his improvement curve due to being 4 times more experienced than vergne, and doesnt have as much upward potential remaining as Vergne.

DR is not special by any means - his karting record in australia was mediocre and his good results in formula racing are ALL the result of being in the best teams (the same teams won the Title the year before and after him with different drivers - it was the car not DR that got the results. He is no better than Webber (also mediocre results in kart racing) Neither of them were outstanding even at local level - so how did they get
