A furious Lewis Hamilton has called for an inquest into his two disastrous pit stops during the Bahrain Grand Prix that lost his crucial time and track position.

From what I understood the problem with Button's car was
twofold. Broken exhaust followed by a problem in the differential. In that brief on-board shot the engine sure sounded sour.

Yeah, it was a little unusual. After the puncture and the pit stop he came out and went purple in sector 1, but by the end of the lap was slowed and then just came in and retired the car.

I thought the teams could change the engine between GPs as they saw fit, as long as they did not go over their 8 per season allotment. The gearbox on the other hand, has to be used for 5 consecutive events.

Schumacher was taken right out of the race from 2nd place when the team got it wrong. Yet spoke in kind words of the team.

Lewis gets held up a couple of seconds while the team get it sorted to stop him having a retirement like Schumacher's and he wants an enquiry.

He need to learn how a seven time world champion treats the team.

That's why Schumacher's team look devastated about their mistake while Lewis's crew looked like things went the way they wanted. Maybe they did?

Hamilton didn't put anyone on blast, and in fact said that he would go and speak with the guy who was operating wheelgun to try to lift him up. The reality is that McLaren do need to examine their pitstop procedures, as they've now had problems in Malaysia (Hamilton), China (Button), and again in Bahrain (Hamilton).

Edit: As a further note, McLaren have said that the same wheelgun man was involved in both of Hamilton's pit stop problems and was relieved of his duties during the race because he was distraught over it. To me that sounds like someone who is gutted about what happened and doing something that hurt his team rather than someone who is pleased with the way things turned out.

Jeffs86- if you have a problem with a team or a team member keep it to yourself and don't discuss this in public. Good example Schumi. It sounds like he is trying to put blame on somebody else, while maybe he needs to look to himself.

The same quote from the Official F1 website:
Lewis Hamilton
“There are good times and bad times in motor racing. I guess this was just one of those days. By rights we should have been fighting to finish in the top four today, but it didn't work out like that in the end. The delays in the pits were a big part of that, of course. For the driver sitting in the car, that's always frustrating, because you're just waiting and there's nothing you can do to help. We lost a bit of world championship momentum today - but, on the plus side, we still picked up four world championship points, and every point you score is valuable in a season as close-fought as this one. Now we'll head into the European season, and it's clear that we've got to do two things: we've got to work on the pace of our car and we've got to improve our pit stops.”
