Jean-Eric Vergne says he doesn't see the current F1 season as a shootout with Daniel Ricciardo to earn a Red Bull drive

This from a guy that said in Nov 2011 that he "would do no worse than Mark Webber" if he was given a race seat.
Lets see...

May need to rethink that bravado stuff J-E

droog. unfortunately they are not in the same car! i dont think that anyone would class the str as anywhere but a mid field car. vergne has still impressed with his drives so far. and he is ahead of schumi in the points!

OK, I take your point, but still, the TR is not exactly an HRT. JEV has been all but invisible during the races, even the sacked boys managed to do better on a regular basis in last yrs spec without advanced blown exhausts. 4 races in, we can start forming opinions methinks. Merde.

Obviously he was talking about last season and of course it meant it would be driving the same car ie the RBR...

He might have been wrong to say that or it might even have been misquoted but I hope for you that your little comparison has more to do with intellectual dishonesty rather than sheer stupidity...

By the same token JEV's race in Malaysia and China were brilliant and noted, even his debut in Melbourne could have yielded a fine result if it was not for the last corners drama.

As for Jean-Eric and Daniel performances being below that of last years STR drivers, you can't compare drivers starting their careers and others having two seasons behind them, obviously yet again, the evaluation will be made after the same period of time which means the end of the current season or the next.

JEV said that comment with intent. He knew hes was going to be in a TR and he knew himself that the comment would cause reaction. Why would he say that knowing he'd be in a slower car?! its all brovado. If he doesnt get results, he'll be fired, simple as that.

@ Richard:

Based on the stats Droog has posted care to tell me how Vergne has impressed.

Yes he had a 8th.

Daniel was right behind in 9th and if memory serves me correct their were tyre complications for Daniel.

Feel prepared to correct me. I'm patient. I'll wait.
