Alonso on top at Mugello!
Hardly supprising as this is a Ferrari test track, so they know all the set-up parameters of old, which must give them a head start. Plus that dog of a car is at least fast in the damp and the wet, in Alonso's hands that is....

In testing with an old car they usually test at Fiorano.

Last September was Bianchi and Sergio Perez testing, previously it has been Bortolotti and others.

Daniel, I know that, thats why I said set up parameters of old! They are the only current F1 team to have run F1 there semi-recently, albiet with control tyres, on press days, 'filming days', Massa's comeback, Shumacher's proposed comeback etc.
On another tack: Both Mclaren know Mugello from other series, so are a good choice.

I remember tyre testing at Silverstone and Brands Hatch.
Getting in and watching 3 or 4 days of these cars pounding round.
Senna would dominate his team when it came to testing because he knew his input was the most important for direction.
His test drivers just pounded round for reliability testing.
So Mclaren have effectively admitted that their systems are good enough to replace testing, good for them. And Yet Lewis still wanted to be driving this week, Button couldn't be bothered. Are we expected to believe that Button really has the drive to be the best.
Mugello was used as a test track by Ferrari because of high speed corners which are missing at Fiorano, this way they benefited from both tracks.

Look at F1 now, every decision is formed by what it means to the TV audience.
The only real free to air TV is qualifying and the race.
We used to get 3 sessions on a Friday, one which was qualifying, 3 again on Saturday with qualifying 2, and warm up then the race,
They love pit stops
