F1 » Webber still wanted as Perez stop-gap?

Could Mark Webber still be a potential target for Ferrari, despite the rumours linking Sergio Perez to Felipe Massa's saet?

Mark and Fernando get along very. Mark is also renowned for his technical input and ability to dissect the nuances to the engineers, which Ferrari would appreciate. Perez could very well do with another year or 2 at Sauber.
However, if RedBull offer him a deal, I reckon Mark would stay. I think he'd like to finish his career with RedBull.
But, every driver want's to drive a Fezza. So who knows. No offer from RedBull, he'd be there quicker than I can say 'get me another beer love'.

A move to Ferrari would be not so smart IMHO. The talk is Perez will take that spot and so any driver who takes it knows that between now and then their days are limited. Unless MW was to go for a total $ grab and just calls it a day when Perez finally steps up, he is better to sit at RBR. Unless the STR boys just start performing like mad, his seat at RBR is basically untouched. If MW still has the hunger to win, and not not just collect a paycheck he is better off staying at RBR. I'm also pretty sure his RBR check isn't lean.

this is just pr gossip. for the last two years, stories have been put about linking webber with ferrari. and all have proven false, with di montezemelo repeatedly saying that he was not being considered. webber wont go as a number two, and ferrari will bring in a youngster as a back up to alonso

"Mark and Fernando get along"

There's quite a difference between getting along as mates, and getting along as teammates. I doubt Fernando would ever give concessions to his teammate, regardless of how much he respects or likes them. On the same hand, we all know Mark takes no ****. But I agree, this is just silly non-issue news while there's nothing else to talk about.

Mark should only go to Ferrari if there is no number one driver. They have done this to much.
I would love to see Mark at Ferrari, he has a great Gung Ho attitude! The Tifosi would surely take to him.

Lets face it, Kubica would already be there if he hadn't had his accident.

Groom Perez for another year??? Massa isn't scoring solid points, not saying Perez will do any better but he won't do any worse and will get better.

Very early days in the season I know, but there's a certain young(ish) Italian tearing up the GP2 series at the moment. I'd like to see Valsecchi maybe get a chance in the top flight and maybe even grab that second Ferrari seat - his links to what is the now Caterham team notwithstanding.
